Last week we saw some chest to bar pull ups show up in a WOD and many of us were surprised with how much harder they can be than standard chin over the bar pull ups.  They’re making another appearance this week to help us get comfortable with the full range of motion here.  If it helps, compare this to squats.  Often times, people will say squatting to parallel is good enough.  Sometimes it is, but as a whole, squatting ass-to-grass (or as deep as we can go staying active in our squat) is much more useful for our athletic development.  Developing strength in just part of our range of motion leads to imbalances and makes us more prone to injury and just generally less functional as humans.  So scale appropriately to get that chest to the bar (or even better, belly to the bar, so there are no questions).  I promise, it’s better for you than hammering out kinda-sorta-chin-reaching-almost-to-the-bottom-of-the-bar pull ups that might happen from time to time…

*these do not need to be touch and go, but rest in between reps should be minimal (less than 5 seconds)

200-400-600m (400+200) run

This SATURDAY, JUNE 28TH we are very excited to announce our first annual 5k from CrossFit Fenway to  CrossFit Somerville. CFSV is almost exactly 3.14 miles away from CFF so we thought we would kick off the summer with an in-house 5k capped off with a BBQ with both communities.     Like most, I found pullup lousy, but we did them :).
