Barbell Cycling
When we work on a barbell movement for strength or skill, the speed with which we move from one rep to the next is not often a concern. But when a barbell shows up in a WOD, our ability to cycle through reps quickly and efficiently over longer periods of time greatly increases in importance.
This week we’ll be working on barbell cycling, or being effective stringing our reps together. Today, our strength/skill piece leads very well into our WOD (which is a throwback to a repeater open workout). While the barbell won’t be coming back to the floor between reps until the WOD, the strength piece gives us the opportunity to practice getting the bar from overhead back to the hips in a straight line.
Here is a great video that covers some ideas we’ll go over on how to get high rep snatches out at lower weights.
