Active recovery
Going hard has many effects. Many of these are good, but if we don’t ease ourselves out of intensity (or cool down), we will end up more sore than we need to be. Today’s WOD will deliberately help mitigate this. On the surface, it’s an interval based couplet, but there’s a lot more going on here. Our score is our total number of calories – the speed with which we do the box jumps does not affect it. The box jumps (which should be higher than you normally jump to) are in place as an active recovery during your 1:15 of rest each round. Don’t take too long – you’ll still want time to catch your breath and strap in before the next round. And challenge yourself. How focused can you stay to jump high after going all out on the rower?
