Today we’re using some very CrossFitty explosive movements (toes to bar, barbell shoulder to overhead) and mixing in some simple traversal to get the whole body moving together in a context that challenges coordination and fatigues your system.

This is a classic CrossFit way to train for preparedness at the limits of our competence: go run/row, then do some explosive hip opening/closing – repeat until nauseous. “Helen” and “Christine” fit that description, among others. There are good reasons for this, not least of which is that the metabolic drain of sprinting puts us in a pre-fatigued state that causes our demand for explosive power to tax our bodies beyond what we would otherwise be able to achieve in a rested state. Put more simply: the pushups suck a whole lot worse during the WOD than they do at the start of the warmup, right? That stimulus is going farther for you when you add in the metabolic drain. You’re getting more bang for your buck!

Today, let’s use that Bear Crawl (and Reverse!) the same way. Sprint it out! Get moving fast on all fours! It’s only 25 feet at a time, so give it all you’ve got and put yourself in the right metabolic state to get the absolute most out of your TTB and S2OH.

    HBBS 145# across – felt good could have done 155# … I mean I still can. Next time. (Talking about feels. As opposed to fields – Clare/JT ;). )

    WOD 5 & 9 Rx + ? Did it at 85# the board says 75# the blog says 85# there was 85# on my bar I did 85#
