We’re still working on getting our hips to fire full and big, and today’s WOD provides a great context.  The jumps are high (make them high!), but they start in low numbers.  This will help build a rhythm with a higher-than-normal height so when the volume gets high, you’ll be ready.  Remember, this is just as much about a big jump as it is a “fast squat” at the top of the box, and the big jump is more important for our power clean development.  Open your hips before you worry about closing them.

STR:

Split Jerk

x2

WOD:

Death by Box Jumps (30/24) *for 15 minutes

with a running clock, do 1 box jump on minute 1, 2 on minute 2 etc, until you hit failure
if you get to 15 minutes, your score is the time of your last round
if you hit failure, take off 3 reps and continue until with that # or reps/minute until 15

URBAN AG SEASON!!!

CrossFit Somerville has a small flock of laying chickens, a hive of bees, and space to grow vegetables in the back yard and on the roof.

We rely on a group of gym members who volunteer their time to care for the chickens and gardens, and reap the benefits of fresh eggs and vegetables throughout the whole summer.

If you would like to volunteer to be a part of the Urban Agriculture Group for the 2016 growing season, email brian@crossfitsomerville.com or talk to one of your coaches.  All CrossFit Somerville members and friends and family are welcome to participate!!

Felt like I could have put more weight overhead. Jumps became slinky-like in the last few rounds. Knew during the warmup that today would be all around bad news for the rebel alliance…
