Connecting the pieces
CrossFit gyms often have the question “So, when do we work on our core?” come up from those new to the methodology. While most of us can see the connection (as in, can see the core’s role in connecting different parts of the body) by now, it helps to get a sensory reminder from time to time. We’ll be carrying a pair of kettlebells in the front rack position today. While we’re often looking for the easiest (and most efficient) way to accomplish a task, today we’re targeting our ability to stabilize and move at the same time. So while it might be tempting to rest the kettlebells on our shoulders, we’re looking to hold them cradled in front of us in a more traditional kettlebell front rack position. If you find it, you’re guaranteed to feel the core’s role in this and many other movements.
