Wining and Dining
Hey folks, it’s been almost 3 full years since we started cooking for the Ruby Rogers Center each month. The Center serves as a place for people in mental health recovery to support each other and have access during the day to basic services, including hot food. Community Cooks is an organization that gathers local residents to help support those who struggle, and our team supports the Ruby Rogers Center.
Our long-time member Hillary got us into it, and it’s been delightful. It’s a great example of our community in action; we are in the business of increasing your agency, your ability to make change in yourself and the world around you. If you’ve got a passion, I want to support you in pursuing it.
I’ve decided this month to take the cooking back old-school, the way we used to do it… by having a cooking party at my house! Even if you’re not on the volunteer rotation, this is a cool opportunity to come see my house, hang out with folks from the gym, and do some good for members of our community that we don’t see here at CFSV. I’ll have all the fixins, and just welcome you to come hang out.
Be it ever so humble, y’all are invited to come to my home and chop some vegetables, hang out around the kitchen, grill some chicken, and drink all the wine that you can stomach on a Sunday evening after the Pats game! From 5-7 (and maybe a bit later, depending on how efficient we are) we’ll be chopping, cooking, and drinking (if that’s your thing).
If you’re interested in coming, just email me at jt@crossfitsomerville.com and let me know.
