The Work Is Only Beginning

We wake up today with an uncertain future, but let’s be honest: the future is always uncertain. There is no fate but what we make.

And make it we will. I am blessed to see your strength and determination every day. No matter who your candidate was, no victor brings with them absolute victory. A win for Trump doesn’t erase corruption in the political system and restore manufacturing jobs to the midwest, and a win for Clinton doesn’t ensure civil rights, end foreign wars, and erase racism or sexism.

This is not the end of anything, regardless of the outcome of this Presidential election in the US. The Work is Only Beginning. Every day we can choose to take a step forward from where we are towards where we want to be.

And the world needs you to be strong. Your families, your friends, your community, and your fellow citizens need your strength. And you have help.

So wake up this morning and know that you have a place you can go to be supported. You have a place where you are welcomed and accepted. And you have a place where people are ready to help make you stronger.
