New Arrival
Congratulations to Coach Nick and his wife Shereen, who welcomed their new baby on Friday! Nick is out for Monday so I’ll be coaching the noon class and Michael Augustine will be filling in for the evening.
Paused Front Squats are an incredibly effective way to build strength for your cleans and ensure that your positioning is correct throughout the movement. There’s no way to really “cheat” these if you’re getting low enough, and any inattention to form or engagement will make itself known. If you have any bad habits around bouncing out of the bottom of your squat or excessive forward inclination of the chest, this particular squat variant will tell you all about it and encourage you to learn to fix it. They’re not pleasant, but they’re super effective!
The workout today is similar to what we did on Saturday, only instead of working as a relay team it’s a fixed amount of work each round and no rest to recover in between rounds. The good news at least is that you don’t have to lug a sandbag around the block this time…
