Bring the heat

So we’ve had a day to cool off after our first super sweaty day at the box.  Personally, I still very much do not miss winter.  The heat does provide us with some new challenges though.  Your bodies will get used to exercising when it’s hot out, but as with all things it will take a little time to adjust.  It will be very important in the coming weeks to hydrate appropriately.  This doesn’t just mean when you’re at the gym.  In fact, what you drink while you’re at the gym isn’t nearly as important as how much water you had 8-10 hours before.  A little planning goes a long way here, and will be important for today’s WOD.  It might not be as hot as Monday, but it still looks to be quite warm out and our WOD is asking us to sprint hard for 90 seconds at a pop over the course of 16 minutes.  So drink up (lots of water) tonight and be ready to hit both the pavement and some light thrusters hard and fast.

STR:

Front Squat
5-5-5-5-5

WOD:

8 Rounds
90 seconds to complete:
200m sprint
ME thusters (45)
rest :30

*score is total number of thrusters

FS #95 This matches a PR, but I was hoping that this weight would magically be easy for me this time around. This move seems especially difficult for me to go heavy (I suspect due to weak core, although JT also saw room to stuff the bar even further into my neck).

WOD: 85 with 33# bar. Holy cardio. Wrote down my thruster splits, so that will be good data for next time.

Enjoyed the big class this morning – 6 ppl! – and daylight!!

I’m not sure what possessed me to go to the 5:30 class this morning but I’m glad I did.

    FS: 45×5 75×5 95×5 135×5 140×5 145×5 150×5 155×5
WOD: 111 thrusters. Damn that was hard.

    FS: 145# PR!

    WOD: 107 RX

    FS:
    warm up- 95×5, 135×5, 185×5
    working- 205×5, 225×5, 235×3(f)

JT convinced me to do the WOD before the strength portion. Those squats definitely felt different!

FS: 155#. Mostly felt good, but I struggled to keep an upright torso on 155#, so I stopped there.

WOD: 84 Rx. The runs sucked. I felt I could have done more thrusters from a metabolic standpoint, but I didn’t want to overwork the Trick Groin™.

    Good work, 6pm.

FS: 75# working on form. Dang but neurons are hard to wrangle sometimes!
WOD: 47 Rx \o/, thanks to some Awesome cheering from Dan and JT. After feeling floppy and tired on the front squats it was surprisingly fun to sprint and give this my all, maybe because as the only one out there I Had to compete with myself. Great stuff! Thanks for taking me on, as a lone 7:30-er, JT!
