Starting the long weekend off right!
We’re one week out from re-testing our 1rm front squat, so today we’ll be using the overhead squat to test our ability to stay upright through the midline while we pull our hips down below our knees. While the overhead squat is rarely a test of pure leg strength, it greatly challenges our positioning and stability both of which will transfer over quite well to our ability to front squat. So load up, get tall and don’t rush your way out of the bottom. Overhead squats are immensely better for us if we have control through the entire lift.
Reminder- this Monday, the gym will be closed for regular classes in observance of Memorial Day. We will however be running the hero WOD Murph at 11am. This will be open to anyone at all who would like to participate. This does not count as a class and there is no fee for drop-ins. Email me if you or anyone you know are planning on attending at nick@crossfitsomerville.com so I have an idea ahead of time of how many to expect. Hope to see you all there!
