Bringing our own heat

Mother nature doesn’t seem to know what she wants currently.  A beautiful weekend is opening up into a chilly mid-week, but that’s not going to stop us from from getting outside.  Quite the contrary – today we’ll have the perfect way to get the blood flowing before each run; 5 heavy deadlifts!  This stimulus not only challenges our bodies to be light and springy after completing some heavy “slow” lifts, but also should help remind us of our hamstrings (during the deadlifts) so we remember to use them while running rather than just using our hip flexors.  As is the case with most interval training, we want to hit each round all out.  Our score is our slowest round, but don’t use that motivation to game this workout.  Hit each round with everything you have.  If your last round isn’t your slowest, you went too slow early on.

STR:

Pull Volume Training (EMOM 20)

WOD:

5 rounds @ 2 minutes
5 deadlifts (275/185)
200m sprint
rest remainder of the 2 minute interval

*score is slowest round

  1. Lydia says:

Pulling Volume Training: A bunch of rounds of 1-2 with a green band, a few with green and red at 3 pullups.

WOD: 1:19 was my slowest time (the first round), and 1:11 the fastest (the last round). This was surprisingly fun! Thanks, Chris, JT, and an excellent 7:30 crowd that included a newbie family member!
