Going long

Nick | 06/09/2014 | 12

Twenty minutes. To some, this might seem like an extraordinarily short amount of time to devote to fitness. But you, the avid CrossFitter, know better. You know that for a CrossFit workout, 20 minutes is long. Long enough that you might be tempted to take it easy or go light. Don’t let the time domain get into your head though. The workout will end after 1200 seconds no matter what you accomplish, so challenge yourself. Put enough weight in your sandbag that you question whether or not it’s a good idea (your coach will let you know if it’s not) and don’t dog it early. This is how we make change.

This is what I get for being all smug about “having” to miss Monday’s workout because I was out of the country until the evening. Maybe if I fly back out of the country I can excuse myself from this one, too? No? *goes off to sign up, despite herself*

WOD: 5 + 225′ w/ 85# push press and 58# sandbag. This wasn’t as bad as it looks – the time goes by quickly. JT had me trying to heel-toe the box pushes for the first two rounds, which was REALLY HARD, but made the next few rounds (with regular box pushes) feel sooo much easier. It was like when someone gives you really bad news, and then less bad news which feels like good news in comparison. It almost made box pushes feel fun… almost.

WOD: 4 + 100′, maybe? with a 31# sandbag. I agree, the time went faster than expected, and this was a good-hard workout. Thanks to JT, Nick, and Justin for some hard work a good times!
