Maximizing our time
When you think about it, one hour a few times a week isn’t a whole lot of time, especially if we’re trying to make life changing improvements to ourselves. We really pack in a lot to these 60 minutes each day. Today, we’re going to squeeze in just a little bit more…
Each working set of our push jerk will be couples with 5 strict toes to bar (or whatever scale is appropriate). The intention here is to get a little bit of bonus gymnastic positioning work in and to help us really feel the core engagement that we should be using doing the lift. It’s quite hard to avoid bracing properly to do a proper toes to bar, but perhaps quite easy to forget it with the dynamic motion of the push jerk. Let the toes to bar remind you of what that engagement feels like so when you get back to the bar, your midline knows what to do.
STR:
Push Jerk
2-2-2-2-2
superset each round with 5 strict toes to bar
WOD:
Row 1k
100 double unders
50 KBS (1.5/1)
30 pistols

Woof.
PJ: 155#
WOD: 12:00 (200 singles, 1pd)
Pistols feel much better without shoes. I find myself taking my shoes off for more and more movements.
Kirstie and I did this at Fenway this afternoon. Wasn’t as bad as it looked.
9:42rx, 1k split was 3:58, Doubles didn’t totally suck, broke the KB swings into 30/20 (but could have done all 50 unbroken if I wasn’t a baby) and cruised through pistols without oly shoes for the first time ever. All in all, I’ll take it. And I’d love to see more chippers – these are fun!
Push jerk: 115#, PR
WOD: 12:41, singles
PJ: 125#. Need to get under the bar better.
WOD: 10:40 @ 1pd and TRX-style pistols. Row was straightforward, about 4 minutes. The first 80 DUs had no errors, though I took an intentional rest after 50. KBS I broke up 20-15-15. The pistols were too easy hanging off the rings: I think what I actually need to do is get real pistols going.
PJ: 105#
WOD: 12:52 Rx pretty sure I PR’d my 1,000m getting off at 4:17. My doubles were soooooooooooo slowwwwwww they were the rate limiting factor here.
PJ: 80# (well, 78#, but still – a PR for one, let alone two)
WOD: 11:59 with SU, 1pd, and pistols to a 20″ box. I’d say the pistols were too easy a scale except that I still can’t always do them on the weaker side. Maybe bench or rings next time?
