Choice

Making active, conscious and deliberate choices is one of the most powerful habits we can build leading us to a healthier and happier life. For many, the choice to walk through our doors and do something perhaps a little intimidating and maybe even scary was one that cascaded into countless other positive choices.

Part of the efficacy of our training is in the fact that we cannot just show up and shut off. We’re here to do the opposite of plugging a pair of headphones in to an elliptical and tuning out while we burn mindless calories. Instead, we should be switched on, constantly questioning and exploring as we build skill, strength and all-around fitness.

So today we offer you a “choose your own adventure” portion of class. One way or the other, we’ll be doing “Diane” at the end of class (see below for details). You will have the option to work on your handstand push-up skill set, preparing you to hit Diane hard. If you feel good about where those are for you and would like, you can instead work on your snatch. Your coach will be focusing on teaching a kipping handstand push-up progression, but will be around periodically to help those snatching.

So if you read this before class, take a moment (heck, take a few) to decide what you want to focus on today. More important than which choice you make is the fact that you make it yourself.

Skill:

Handstand push up kip or snatch

WOD:

Diane
21-15-9
deadlift (225/155)
HSPU

Holiday Schedule:
We will close early (no evening classes) on 1/31 and completely closed on 1/1/15.  Happy holidays!

WOD: 9:07 w/ 225# and 25# DB strict presses, because my wrist got a little janky in HSPU practice

Skill: power snatches … They went ok

    Diane: 14:55 Rx

Holy smoked shoulders. First signed up for class all month. The cheer-alongs were really awsome, thanks dudes

WOD: 11:51 with 125# DL and tripod leg lifts. Definitely a more appropriate scale than last time. Really nice work from my buddies in the 7:30 class, too – scaling and challenging themselves!

Dang – Renee, go you with the Rx! That’s a LOT of HSPUs!
