splitJerk

In the world of olympic lifting there are two primary lifts; snatch and clean & jerk. Monday we had a worked on the first portion of the clean and plenty of full cleans. Today we have a chance to work on the jerk. The jerk is the second part of this olympic lift.

Typically we lead with the same foot consistently but today we are going to alternate legs. You might find one leg is a stronger lead foot. When you find your lead foot remember it the next time we split jerk. Regardless, the mechanics of the jerk remain the same: use your hips to jump the bar off your shoulders. Land with your arms locked out and your feet in a wide sturdy base.

Have fun!
