Three for three

IMPORTANT NOTICE: #BlackLivesMatter activists from Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston are staging a protest action in Union Square on Thursday night, scheduled from 4:30pm until 8pm.

There will be significant crowds in the area (between 200 and 1000 likely), and a certainty of both increased traffic problems and increased police activity in the area. If you are driving to class in the evening or taking public transportation, please allow for significant extra time or consider parking far away on a side street in Cambridge and walking in to the facility. We strongly encourage you to walk or bike to the box tomorrow night.

If you are interested in knowing more about the protest, the link is here:

Thanks for staying cool in the hot weather and making space for public protests. We will have our doors open and will be running classes as normal, and will be making our bathrooms available for public use during the event.

We’re tripling our WODage today, hitting the same short AMRAP three times with a quick break in between.  This will be a test of our ability to rev our engine up high in sprint mode but still recover with relatively little rest to perform again.

WOD:

3 x  AMRAP 3
5 C&J (95/65)
5 Box jumps (24/20)

CALVINBALL!!!

Hey friends! Starting this Saturday at 11am I’ll be running an hour long games-oriented class. We learn a lot about how our bodies work and how we can improve our relationship with them in our regular Crossfit classes. This class will take this a step further. Interacting with other intelligent beings gives our mind much more to work with and adapt to, and in doing so stimulates changes to us that a barbell or a med ball never could on their own. There will be elements of calmness, intensity, improvisation and interaction throughout. The skills we will be cultivating won’t be technique driven – rather we will be learning how to learn and adapt to constantly changing situations through experience rather than through cognitive planning. All are welcome, and all can benefit.

Come with a sense of adventure and fun. The class will be $10, but it can also count as a regular class if that works better for you! I hope to see you there!
