Feels Like the First Time
Just over 8 years ago, I tried my first CrossFit workout. I was skeptical and unexperienced. I didn’t even own a proper pair of athletic shoes, so I did the workout barefoot. (So not much has changed there.) And much like many of you, the day afterwards I couldn’t actually lift my legs to get out of bed.
Today’s WOD is that workout, my first. And while it may not seem like much – just a simple 21-15-9 of some basic movements that you’re mostly familiar with – that same “first time” feeling can be yours if you approach it with the same kind of reckless energy that you brought into your first WOD.
Let’s get real: at some point in your CF experience you understand your capacity and the temptation can be strong to dial it back and work hard enough for a good sweat, but not so hard that you really push yourself to the limit. Today I want you to leave that all behind and just go all-out. Get this work done as fast as you possibly can, and see if you can find that first time feeling once again.
Training at the margins is where we find our gains, so we invite you to challenge your flexibility and mobility on our strenght work today and then challenge your metabolic capacity and intestinal fortitude on the WOD.

Babyface JT!
HHSS: 95# These were fun!
WOD: 7:13 RX I was able to rebound the box jumps pretty well in the first two sets, but the burpees slowed me down.
My first CF workout was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, 5 years ago. The WOD was a 2k row and I was a mess for DAYS.
JT 7:29 Rx, Naomi 9:00 Rx
Lungs burned for a long time after this, but I still could have pushed faster on the burpees and box jumps in the last 2 rounds.
STR: 105#
WOD: 6:51 @ 20Kg
STR: 75#
WOD: 7:08 Rx
JT, your post inspired me to go Rx, and I’m happy I did, it was a good one.
5PM class was awesome, with so many people Rx’ing the WOD. Nelly and Katie were impressively fast. I want to be like them when I grow up.
STR: 75#
WOD: 7:06 RX
Enjoyed that one a lot!
That was a powerful WOD and inspiring to cheer and be cheered by others at the 6 pm class. 9:16 @ 18″ box jumps.
